Curriculum Goals

Most experts will agree that children, especially young children, learn better through play than through highly structured academic activities. We embrace this concept and provide a wide range of hands-on activities. We encourage children to experiment with science, math, manipulatives, language, literacy, music & movement, art, dramatic play, sensory and water activities, games, and gross motor play, which are available during class time.

Our classes contain three basic educational components, each of which are designed to aid in specific developmental areas. During each class, the children will have the opportunity to participate in free-choice activities, small group encounters, and teacher-directed experiences. Free choice activities allow for personal interests and self-expression. Small group encounters are intended to develop listening skills and the ability to follow directions, as well as allow practice being part of a large group.

Experiences are provided that meet each child's needs and stimulate learning in all developmental areas, including physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Every child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern and timing of growth and development. Different levels of ability, development and learning styles are expected, accepted, and used to design appropriate activities.

Interactions and activities are designed to develop children's self-esteem and positive feelings toward learning.

Meet Our Team:

My name is Heather Nukho.  I have been a preschool teacher for 16 years and the director at Sprouts for 5 years.  I love the kids and knowing I provide a safe place for them to go and make a difference in their lives.  I enjoy teaching kids social and emotional skills.  I’m taking classes at NPC for Child Development.  I have three kids of my own, one is still living at home.  I have 4 dogs, two turtles, and a frog.  I love being a mom and a director.

My name is Sarahi.  I’ve been working in preschools for 17 years.  I’ve been at Sprouts for 5 years. I currently teach the Little Drops (2 year-olds).  I like to teach the kids new skills to prepare them for kindergarten.  In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my daughter.  I’m eager to learn new things.  At this moment, I am working on my Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.  My favorite color is green because I enjoy the view of landscapes and plants.

I am Ms. Taylor.  I am the lead teacher in the Rainbow Room.  I have been a preschool teacher for 9 years.  This is my 5th year at Sprouts.  I love being with the children and watching them grow and learn new things.  It fascinates me how a child’s mind really works! I was born and raised here in beautiful Show Low, Arizona where most of my family is from.  When I’m not at work I spend A LOT of time with my 3 beautiful kids (ShanLynn, Syllis, and Navy), my husband Aaron, and my family. Being a mom is the biggest blessing and my most favorite thing in the world.

Welcome to Sprouts Preschool!  I’m Ms. Hallie, the lead teacher in the Sunshine room.  This is my fourth year working at Sprouts.  I started off as a substitute and worked my way up.  I enjoy helping children thrive and learn new skills.  In the Sunshine room we work on shapes, colors, numbers, and cutting just to name a few!  The social emotional well-being of your child is very important to me.  I promise to love and protect your child while they are with me. I have two amazing little girls with my boyfriend.  Both of my girls attended Sprouts.  When I’m not teaching, or attending yearly training and conferences, I love going hiking and riding with my family.
